Without having tried the NeXT platform it is hard to comment on whether it was the tour de force that most people say it was. However, looking at training videos and the fact that Apple bought NeXT in 1997 when Jobs returned to Apple, using it as the root of today's OS X, I can only imagine how remarkable it was. Why do you think NeXT failed? Or, can NeXT be seen as a success?
